I like Maxim and all other such glossy magazines for those steamy photo shoots they come up with. But I have always had certain reservations about all those 100 hottest or 100 sexiest kind of lists. How can we pick a handful of women as the hottest from billions without checking each of them? Celebrities obviously get an unfair advantage in this front! Also, as most of such lists are churned out by the western media, celebrities from those countries always get priority.

Nevertheless, coming to this year’s top five, I personally think at least two of them deserve to be there. Scarlett Johansson, who is placed second, is definitely one of the most beautiful as well as talented celebrities in the world. She is just 24, and has already had four golden globe nominations and a bunch of other awards! If someone thought beauty can’t co-exist with brains, she would prove to be a complete antitheses! Be it as the demure and bored wife of Lost in Translation or as the assistant and muse of Huge Jackman in The Prestige, she never fails to sizzle. She upholds the tradition of Scandinavian beauties in Hollywood, which has been continuing since the days of Greta Garbo and Ingrid Bergman. Jessica Biel is also a worthy contender at number three. If you have seen her in Texas Chainsaw Massacre, you will realize what is meant by perfectly toned abs! Meanwhile, she is also gaining acceptance as a decent actor. It is evident from her role in The Illusionist where she made herself visible despite Edward Norton’s presence.

But I don’t really think the same about the top slot. Marisa Miller is a supermodel and she does have a great body, but most of her ilk seem to be over groomed and perfected to an unrealistic level. In fact, I personally find most of the so called supermodel extra slim, anorexic and malnourished. But they get the favor of such rankings most of the times thus creating an unhealthy obsession for losing weight. As far as Eva Longoria is concerned, I do find her hot, but apart from Desperate Housewives, she hardly has anything else to her credit. Same can be said about Sarah Michelle Gellar.

There are a host of other celebrities who according to me could have made it to the top five. Beyonce Knowles, Jessica Alba, Eva Mendez and Sienna Miller are some of them. Also, there is no reason why they can’t include sports personalities like Maria Sharapova or even Michel Wie. Anyway, I don’t want to sound over patriotic or jingoistic, but they should have included some Indian beauties also. However, my personal favorites would not have been the regular Bollywood babes but the sensuous and voluptuous sirens setting the screen ablaze down south over all these years. Whatever it is, let’s not ponder too much over it and let’s treat our sore eyes. Just enjoy the heat of those hotties and be happy. Adieu!
