Paris Hilton might seem to be hare-brained social butterfly, but one must also remember that she comes from the Hilton family. Such rich families, though stinking rich, make it a point to make generous donations to charities. Call it conscience money or an attempt at image enhancement, but they dole out big amounts in charity. Paris’ grandfather has donated 97% of his money for good causes. Paris seems to have the family wisdom in abundance.

She has made a generous donation to the Children Hospital Los Angeles. Though the amount is not known, it is substantial, since the hospital authorities have called it ‘extremely generous’. Paris gave out a statement befitting a Hilton.

She said:

The children I have met through my involvement with Children’s Hospital have truly touched my heart. I am proud to make a donation and lend my name to the fundraising effort to help children who are facing terribly serious illnesses.

The Good Samaritan act will go a long way in erasing the bad publicity generated by her 23 days in jail last year for violating probation on alcohol-related reckless driving charges. It must be said that Paris Hilton is not dumb as she appears. She knows the importance of good PR and that one must pay big money to get good publicity. I am assuming, of course, that she made the donation of her own free will and not due to coercion by her influential family.
