
Rapper Snoop Dogg, whose real name is Calvin Broadus has been arrested in California, Tuesday for illegal possession of a handgun and drugs, as he left NBC Studios after performing on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.”
The 35-year-old rapper was arrested at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday at Bob Hope Airport located in Burbank, California.
Airport police officers stopped Snoop Dogg at a loading zone for a vehicle code violation. When officers searched the vehicle they found a gun and marijuana, police said. Snoop Dogg placed $35,000 bail and was scheduled to appear in court on December 12th.
Snoop was earlier convicted in 1990 of cocaine possession and was charged with gun possession after a 1993 traffic stop. He entreated guilty in exchange for three years’ trial and a promise to make public service announcements against violence.
Donald Etra, Dogg’s attorney said,
There was no bases for this arrest.We believe that once this is cleared up, all charges will be dismissed.
He was acquitted of murder in 1996 following the death of an suspected street gang member killed by gunfire from the vehicle in which he was traveling.
