Scarlett Johansson’s inclusion in the starry list of Iron Man sequel has not gone down well with at least one important character of the Marvel comics flick. Good ‘ol Gwyneth Paltrow, who plays Pepper Potts in the flick, is apparently not amused by the starry attitude shown by ScarJo on the sets.
If we go by the reports appearing in The Sun, then the sparks coming out of the on-set rivalry between the two female leads are hot enough to melt the shit out of Iron Man. According to an insider,
Gwyneth has become very frustrated with Scarlett. They come from different worlds and have completely different styles. Gwyneth has found Scarlett very demanding of the attention of the crew. It’s not a happy set. Gwyneth and Scarlett have never been particularly close.
Gwyneth was looking forward to working with EMILY BLUNT, who was originally in line for the part, but it ended up being Scarlett. Gwyneth’s had to live with that and she has been very professional, but she and Scarlett haven’t developed a friendship on the shoot, which is almost at the half way point. In fact, it’s quite the opposite.
I don’t think it’s fair on Gwyneth’s part to hate ScarJo for her attitude. ScarJo is playing Black Widow in the film and it’s natural for her to live her role on the set too. Gwyneth is just overreacting.
Moreover, if we believe the insider, the centerpiece of the whole project is a huge fight sequence between Robert and Mickey Rourke. And it involves Gwyneth too. So I don’t think Gwyneth has a valid reason for her erratic behavior.
