Here’s another sad story related to the talented child stars of the Oscar-winning flick, Slumdog Millionaire. As per reports, Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail, who played Dev Patel’s character as a little boy, was left without a home after his shanty house got bulldozed by the Mumbai government officials.
This is a routine procedure followed by the municipal authorities in Mumbai every year prior to monsoon season, clarified the officials. Whatever it is, but poor Azharuddin was forced to flee his house along with his family as the bulldozer hit his shanty house (without any prior notice) while they were sleeping.
This incident shows the level of hypocrisy that is deep-rooted in the brains of Indians. On one hand, they leave no chance to curse and shout at ‘foreign film makers’ for ridiculing India by making a film that shows their country in a bad light. And on other hand, they turn a blind eye from such incidents and blame it on the government.
Anyway, I hope the producers of the movie come forward with some sort of relief for this kid who played an important part in securing the Academy Awards for Slumdog Millionaire.

This story was reported today in the New Zealand papers. It broke my heart and appalled that those who had this young chap in their film could stand by and not do anything when they could have done everything for him and his family.
And they deserve it irrespective small payment was given, all stood up and represented showcasing to the world the plight of a people of a great nation.
